Read Kindle Books on Nook Color/Touch/Tablet
"My dad wants to get me a Nook for Christmas. So, I was looking into how to get books to read for it and my local Library said they have 2 formats for it. The Kindle Format and an "E-book" format. Do I download the Kindle format and it will work on my Nook or will "E-book" work on my Nook??" --- From Erin, Yahoo! Answer
Can Nook read Kindle books? The answer is difinitely YES! Firstly, let's take a look at the eBook formats supported by Nook and Kindle, respectively.
Kindle: Unprotected MOBI or PRC, TXT, Topaz format books (TPZ), AZW, PDF(The original Kindle doesn't support).
Nook: In addition to the format of books purchased specifically for the Nook, you can also load books that in either ePub (including Adobe DRM or DRM free), PDF, or plain text of TXT format. The original Nook supports fewer document formats than Nook Color, Nook Simple Touch, and Nook Tablet. you can load books that come in either the PDF or EPUB format.
As you can see, the book formats of Kindle and Nook are not matched. Most of Kindle eBooks are MOBI format or AZW format. To read Kindle books on Nook freely, you need to convert Kindle books to Nook.
